Developer: Bungie Release: Fall 2001

"HALO," created by Bungie. Pursued by alien warships to a massive and ancient ring construct deep in the void, you must single-handedly improvise a guerilla war over land, sea and air. The epic single-player game is complemented by a role-based, cooperative multiplayer team game. Three players might take the roles of driver, shotgun and rear gunner of a light, fast all-terrain vehicle, roaring and bouncing over uneven ground toward the enemy fortress, ducking under a hail of fire from alien aircraft screaming overhead.

A third person combat game, Halo pits you right in the middle of a military recon unit. Oh yea, by the way Humans are the underdog here. So that means the alien races are on the rise, and soon as you land on their world, get ready to rumble! Once you land on their alien-made ring world, the chase is on from the moment you touch ground. It is your mission to organize and lead the human resistance against the terrifying alien army.

The term 'Halo' is derived from the design of the world, which is constructed from a star surrounded by a gigantic ring that generates a gravity effect through centripetal force pushing you into the inside of the spinning ring.

As we would expect from any game of this type, the possibility for multi-player action is a key feature to the success of this game. In multi-player mode, you work as part of a team that must cooperate in order to achieve your common goal, to defeat the alien race and secure humanity's place in the universe. So you get to build up a team based upon who you can work with, the best way to succeed is to accumulate a team of diverse strong points, that way you have a well rounded squad ready to go out and kick some alien ass!

Features:

  • Huge Weapon Variety: Vanquish your enemies with a vast array of Human or Covenant weaponry ranging from the stealthy (semi-automatic pistols and alien plasma swords) to the fierce (rocket launchers and flame throwers).

  • Vehicle and Foot-Based Action: Tackle missions anyway you choose - be it storming an enemy base or taking the wheel or gunnery position of a variety of powerful vehicles. Vehicles range from stolen Covenant flyers and hovercraft to Human buggies, tanks and more.

  • Indoor and Outdoor Combat: Fight seamlessly in Halo's ultra-realistic indoor and outdoor environments as you hunt the Covenant in dozens of single player missions and multiplayer battles.

  • Intense Multiplayer Shoot-outs: Form a team, choose a role, and fight cooperatively with your friends, battle it out Deathmatch style via intense split screen combat or fight co-op with a friend through the single player missions.

  • Incredible Mission Variety: Fight the Covenant in dozens of missions as you uncover the dark secrets of Halo. Among your many objectives-attack enemy outposts, raid underground labs for advanced technology, rescue fallen comrades, steal alien vehicles and weaponry and snipe enemy forces.

  • Reality Bending Special Effects: Halo features the most advanced graphic system on the most advanced gaming platform in the world. Gunfire rips off the screen, explosions light up a living room, and environments blur the line between your couch and fantasy.

  • Rich Sci-Fi Experience: Halo transports gamers into a science fiction universe fresh out of a Hollywood movie. With a detailed twisting story line, complex characters and cunning enemies Halo will fulfill every sci-fi enthusiasts dreams.
